Samsara Integration
With the ilert Samsara integration, you can create alerts in ilert based on Samsara events.
If Samsara's fleet management system identifies a problem, such as a vehicle malfunction or a driver safety incident, ilert can promptly send alerts to the relevant team members, ensuring a quick response. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to connect Samsara and ilert.
In ilert: Create a Samsara alert source
Go to Alerting → Alert sources and click Create new alert source.
Search for Samsara, click its tile, and click Next.
Give your alert source a name, optionally assign teams, and click Next.
Choose who gets notified: select Use existing escalation policy and pick a policy, or Generate new escalation policy to start with a basic one that notifies you first. Click Next.
Pick an existing escalation policy, or generate a basic one without leaving the wizard. Select Default grouping and click Continue setup. It groups events by the alert key the integration sets; the other grouping options are easier to judge once events are arriving.
The next page shows more settings, such as notification priority and alert templates. Click Finish setup for now; you can change them later.
On the final page, ilert shows the integration key and URL for this alert source. You will need them later in this guide.
In Samsara: Create a webhook
In the sidebar, click on the Alert bell icon.
On the next screen, click on Create Alert.
Now select a desired Trigger.
Now open the Add Action menu and choose Send Webhook.
A new tab will open. Now click on Manage.
Click on Add Webhook.
Enter a Name, the ilert alert source URL created in this step into the Payload URL field, and select some desired Event Subscriptions.
Click on Create to finish the webhook setup.
Optional: Click on the Test button to send a test alert to ilert.
FAQ
Are alerts in ilert automatically resolved?
Yes, as soon as an alert is resolved in Samsara, the corresponding Alert is automatically resolved in ilert.
